Our History

Fern Epstein, the founder of Sidebar Consulting, has more than 20 years of experience assisting Federal government clients evaluate and improve program performance by focusing on operations, program effectiveness, and process evaluation and design. Fern is a licensed attorney and she brings her legal training and analytical thinking to each client engagement.

Fern has led numerous projects for government clients, conducting activity based costing studies, A - 76 studies, benchmark studies and process and program reviews. She has also designed and implemented surverys, led strategic planning and goal setting sessions, and supported agency rulemaking activities.

Fern is an experienced project manager, and has led large teams in the successful completion of complex, long-term projects.

Prior to establishing Sidebar, Fern played a leadership role in several premiere management consulting firms, including Deloitte & Touche and Booz, Allen & Hamilton.
